Law enforcement officials are searching for an inmate who walked off a work detail and may have stolen a car Thursday afternoon.
Maj. Ward Calhoun of the Lauderdale County Sheriff's Department said 19-year-old Glenn "Bo" George was last seen around 3:30 p.m. in the Lost Gap community.
George was incarcerated at the Lauderdale County Detention Facility for violation of probation stemming from an earlier grand larceny conviction and for a felon in possession of a weapon conviction.
Investigators believe George took a tan 1998 Mazda Protege four-door from the 22nd Avenue BP Station, according to Calhoun. That car matches the one he was last seen driving in Lost Gap.
Calhoun said according to the parents of George's 15-year-old girlfriend, he picked her up in the Lost Gap community, and the girl has not been seen or heard from since.
George is described as 5 feet 7 inches tall and about 165 pounds. He was last seen wearing a royal blue button up shirt and blue jeans. His hair is brown and cut short, and his face is clean shaven.
The tag number of the stolen Protege is LAB 253.
Residents with information can call CrimeStoppers at 490-2746 or the Lauderdale County Sheriff's Department at 482-9800.
