Meridian Community College finished seventh in the NJCAA Division II Men's Golf Championship in Texas this past week.
The Eagles shot a 294 in Friday's final round at Pebble Creek Country Club in Bryan, Texas, to take seventh place with a four-day total of 1,198. The finish ties the 2001 Eagles for the second-best showing by an MCC team in the national tournament with the 1999 team. Only the 1998 MCC team that finished second has fared better.
Dan Luke of Hickory led the MCC contingent with a four-day total of 293. He tied for 11th place in individual scores and was named third-team All-American. Luke moved up from a tie for 31st after two rounds of play at the Texas A&M University Golf Course.
Morgan Stewart shot a 303, while Cameron Hunt had a 305, Brandon Laird a 306, and Jamie Sullivan a 318.
Temple (Texas) College won the tournament with a four-day total of 1,150.
Indian Hills (Iowa) Community College finished 13 strokes back for second place and Shelton State of Tuscaloosa, Ala., was 20 behind for third.
