This year RMS raised 2,734 cans/items of food, which is the highest total ever collected, to donate to the Salvation Army.

FCCLA and SADD would like to thank everyone who helped to make this year’s can-a-thon a success. Rachel Agee, FCCLA adviser at RMS, said, “We are so thankful for student, faculty, parent and community participation. We can accomplish anything when we work together. It is amazing to see the giving nature of our students. This donation will make a huge impact for the community this holiday season.”

Derek Gober, SADD sponsor, said, “The students really took ownership of the can-a-thon this year. Several students stepped up into leadership roles and encouraged one another to donate. I’m very proud of what the students accomplished this year by raising the bar to a higher level. ”

Jacob Daniel, FCCLA member, said “I used my Christmas money. I thought about how I have such a wonderful life and that I can help the people that don’t have as much food. Now I will know they will have a good Christmas.”

Fallin Cox, SADD vice president, said “The reason the can-a-thon is important to me is because there are so many needy families that will be very grateful for all the food. I also love helping people and think donating cans is a great way to help people in my community.”

Food will be donated to the Salvation Army, where it will be distributed to families in the community.
