Despite the aggressive wind and rain, members of the Russellville business community turned out Aug. 31 to welcome the new president and CEO of CB&S bank, Mike Ross.

Ross replaces retiring executive Dennis Upchurch, who has held the position for more than 20 years.

“I know this company has a deep legacy, and I want to continue that,” Ross said.

Board Chairman Greg Batchelor introduced Ross to those gathered for the reception, held at CB&S Bank’s downtown location.

Ross is an Alabama native. He was raised in Montgomery and earned his master’s degree from the University of Alabama. He made a name for himself in the Birmingham banking business. He is married to Hillary, and they have three children.

Ross said he knew CB&S was the right organization for him when was watching one of the new employee orientation videos.

“There’s such a focus on family and service to the community. I knew it was the right decision,” he explained.

While addressing the crowd, Ross took the time to individually recognize bank employees and board members, those present and those who couldn’t make it, and brag on how great they are to work with and how much he enjoys the environment.

“I’m delighted and honored to be a part of this family, and I’m looking forward to getting engaged in the community,” he said.
