RBHS wins area with sweep of Colbert

The Red Bay Tigers earned the 2A, Area 14 title with a two-game sweep of the Colbert County Indians last week. The Tigers will host Collinsville in the first round of the playoffs beginning next week.

Red Bay started the series with a serious statement, pounding the Indians 16-0. Red Bay scored six runs in the first inning to set the tone for the rest of the game and the series.

Kolby Bragwell pitched a one-hit shutout with 11 strikeouts.

Chase Allen had a huge day at the plate with seven RBIs on three hits, including a double, and scored a run.

Zac Humphries had a hit and two RBIs and scored two runs.

Bragwell scored four runs, and Alex Burroughs scored three runs. Peyton Green and Cade McKinney scored two runs each.

In game two, Colbert County scored all five of its runs in the first inning to take a 5-2 lead. Red Bay, however, chipped away the rest of the game, scoring the game-winning run in the top of the seventh inning.

Colbert County outhit Red Bay nine hits to three.

Cade McKinney led the way at the plate with two hits, including a double, two RBIs, and a run scored.
