Watermelon fun for all

With the summer winding down and schools back in session, there’s still plenty of summer fun to look forward to, especially our longtime and well-loved tradition, the Franklin County Watermelon Festival, which takes place August 18-19 in downtown Russellville.

It offers plenty of free, family-friendly fun for everyone, with musical and dance performances, as well as a number of vendors, games and food. Stay on the lookout for our special Watermelon Festival section in next week’s newspaper.

This year’s section includes some photos from last year’s event, so make sure to look. You just might spot yourself or someone you know. Will you be attending to eat watermelon?

We know it’s going to be hot, but there’s sure to be a place or two to get out of the heat, so think about coming out and joining in the fun. We’ll be there, taking photos as usual. We hope we’ll see you there.
