PHILADELPHIA n The Neshoba County board of supervisors Monday made its appointments to a committee that will study whether to put local economic development and tourism groups under one umbrella.
Board president Harold Reynolds and supervisor James Young were named to the committee. They will be a part of the decision making process on whether to combine the Philadelphia-Neshoba County Chamber of Commerce, the Industrial Development Authority and the tourism council.
The appointments were made during the supervisors meeting here at the Neshoba County Courthouse. In other actions, supervisors:
Met with road manager Billy Kilpatrick, concerning various repairs and assignments. Afterwards, Kilpatrick said that the county's road were in good shape, even after last week's rains;
Deleted four old volunteer fire department radios from the county's fixed assets log;
Received a request for funding from Philadelphia's Main Street program. Supervisors decided to wait until they start working on next year's budget to consider the request;
Requested an extension until Dec. 31, 2002, from the state DEQ concerning a waste tire grant.
