BELGREEN – The Belgreen varsity basketball season opened Tuesday night with the Bulldogs earning a victory in girls action, but falling in the boys game.
Martha Billingham led the Lady Bulldogs to a 55-34 win against Covenant Christian by scoring 18 points. Lauren McVicker added 10 points for Belgreen while Deborah Billingham scored five.
The boys team was not able to earn a win in its first game, losing by a score of 63-44.
Taylor Hestor led the Bulldogs with 13 points while B.J. Horton scored 10 points.
Belgreen will return to action Nov. 14 when the Bulldogs travel to Vina to kick off its region schedule.
