Profile 2002: The Fabric of America
How to write a story for the Sports/Recreation section

By Staff
Dec. 6, 2001
You are invited to submit a story, letter or column about sports or recreation to The Meridian Star's reader-written "Profile" edition. The theme this year is "Fabric of America."
We are looking for entries about the relationships and events, both small and large, that bind us together and define our lives.
Many children learn their first lessons about teamwork from a coach. Does your son or daughter have a great coach? Did a coach influence your life? Write a story and tell us how.
The sports section will include "Best Brags," which are exactly what they sound like a chance to brag on the athlete in your home. Make sure you include a photograph and a phone number where we can reach you.
Also included in this section are non-competitive pastimes like singing, quilt-making, bird-watching and sailing whatever you do.
Each section of Profile 2002 will include survey questions. Here's one from the Sports and Recreation section: "How old were you when you started deer hunting? Tell us about the first buck you ever killed."
Call Managing Editor Suzanne Monk at 693-1551, ext. 3229, if you have questions or want to talk about your story idea. Submissions for the "Sports and Recreation" section should be received by Jan. 4. They can be sent by e-mail to smonk@themeridianstar.com, or by regular mail to:
